Last Wednesday, Merrill Lynch announced the launch of mobile brokerage apps for iPhone, iPad, and BlackBerry devices. This follows the launch in 2009 of MyMerrill.com and MerrillEdge.com which are banking apps through Bank of America.

With the new apps, clients will be able to view their portfolio, holdings, and account activity and move money between linked Merrill and BofA accounts; trade stocks, mutual funds, ETFs and options.

The ability to track market news and headlines along with customizing their watch lists and alerts is another feature.

These new applications will give clients the control and flexibility they seek and help them make confident financial decisions.

The iPad app offers access to research reports from BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research.

  • The apps for the iPhone and iPad can be downloaded directly from iTunes App Store.
  • Blackberry users can download apps directly from their Merrill Lynch website.

Alok Prasad, head of Merrill Edge, told Ruthie Ackerman of OnWallStreet, “These new applications will give clients the control and flexibility they seek and help them make confident financial decisions”.
