Since FINRA published 10-06 earlier in Q1 2010, numerous asset managers have begun to adopt social media, although the uptake continues to be slow at many of the larger companies as they have very restrictive social media policies. In order to help the industry address the FINRA and SEC requirements, 3rd party technology providers have begun to offer social media compliance and supervision solutions. For a summary of the major solution providers, you can visit: http://everydaytenacity.com/asset-management-marketing/social-media-compliance-supervision-solutions

I believe that over the coming 18 months - 2 years we will see a substantial decrease in the number of RIA's simply because there will be new financial regulations imposed across the industry world wide to stop or at least make more difficult, excessive profits.

The G20 meeting in Canada this coming week will bring some interesting changes for implementation that I don't think is going to please too many people in the financial services industries.

A financial assistant is a great asset to anyone who's running a business. It can be hard trying to keep up with the financial planning and running the business at the same time. Do you think it would be a good idea to hire a college student in this role?

This would be a perfect opportunity for you to find out what his future career goals are. If he would like to grow into a Financial Advisor role eventually, you can discuss ways for him to grow with your firm. You can offer him incentives for building his own book at your firm and train him on how to get started. As long as he knows you will provide him with the option of being in a producing role and there is room for growth with your firm, he will be much less likely to leave you.

Here's a situation. I found the perfect guy to be my Financial Assistant. The problem is I'm a little wary that he'll leave once he has learn all the skills and knowledge he needs. Any advice on how to hold on to a potential Associate Financial Advisor? Thanks in advance.

Amazing story Maria Chrin has. I wish there was something like her company closer to home. I am seeking financial advice and it coming from women who are successful would make me feel more safe about my money.

Our industry is filled with men, it seems that not many women are drawn to what we do. But I wouldn't have a problem if more women wanted to join us. I wish Obama would provide some more funding to us too.

Great tip. We are finding this very same problem in our local market as well. Always pays to get a professional to help.

Yes, it is good news that women will have more
opportunities to work on Wall Street. Are the
companies moving towards hiring more minorities
because of the amount of funding available to
companies with a minority staff?
