An interesting article we ran across in a recent edition of On Wall Street, by reporter Stacy Schultz, confirms what we have seen in the first five months of 2008 in the financial services recruiting market. Schultz reported that nearly twice as many brokers and financial advisors as last year are likely to consider leaving their current employer this year.
Based on the third annual study, sponsored by National Financial, the survey interviewed 1,201 Financial Advisors from a random sample of financial institutions. Those who switched firms in 2007 said change in the firm’s direction was their #1 reason for leaving.
We have witnessed an increase in the number of experienced Financial Advisors who want to move, but we are also experiencing an increase in recruitment competition. So, what’s behind this sudden increase in job movement this year?
